Los Angeles Clippers: Chris Paul (Point Guard)

Los Angeles Clippers: Chris Paul (Point Guard)

With the “Big Three” era taking basketball by storm, the Clippers finally formed one of their own with the arrival of Chris Paul in 2011. CP3 joined Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to form “Lob City” and led the team to 6 straight winnings seasons after 5 losing ones. In a city largely dominated by the Lakers and Hollywood personalities, Paul & Co. provided another star to take over the spotlight. Fans no longer only filled up the Staples Center on nights when the home team donned purple and gold. As a Clipper, the 9-time All-Star led the league twice in assists and three times in steals. Widely regarded as a top 10 NBA player, Paul’s departure is made more deflating due to him joining James Harden and conference rivals, the Houston Rockets. With Paul going south to Houston, so has the Clippers record, going from 4th in the conference at 51-31, to an inauspicious start this year at 14-19. With 6 trips to the playoffs all ending early and expectations set on winning a championship, the 32 year old perennial All-Star, decided it was time to take his talents elsewhere. Clippers fans who once considered Paul a staple of their team, will have only the highlight reels of the guy who put the lob in “Lob City.”
